Last spring, I became an aunt for the first time. I drove from college to meet my niece, and my sisters and I took turns taking pictures of each other holding her. When those pictures were posted online, I had a serious reality check.
I looked unhealthy and uncomfortable holding my new niece. I decided to join a gym and lose weight over the summer. I went to the gym five to six days a week and after three months, and the number on the scale did not change one bit. I have always had trouble dropping weight, and am one of those people that either maintains or gains. Or so I thought.
In March 2011, I talked to Nancy about my frustrations with my weight, and body image. She told me to create a food journal for an entire week, not leaving out any gruesome details. I brought the food journal to her and she developed a diet created just for me. I continued writing a food journal, which allowed me to be honest with myself about my diet.
Over a month and a half, I started to eat smarter, gain energy, and feel better about myself. I am a person that never loses weight, and I lost eleven pounds in two months. I needed someone that is knowledgeable about nutrition to work with me to achieve my goal.
Not only did I lose weight, but I gained knowledge in how to take care of myself on a day-to-day basis. I would not have the energy, self confidence, or healthier life without Nancy’s help!
